Punk Overcame Hardy But Went Straight To Undertaker

The World Heavyweight Championship has been the reason for the rivalry between CM Punk and Jeff Hardy. It all began when Punk cashed him Money in the Bank opportunity to snatch the title from match-worn Hardy which he won just few seconds before defeating Edge. That was their first such encounter at Extreme Rules. Later they came face to face at The Bash for the title but Punk got disqualified, losing the match but retaining the title, thus taking Jeff’s frustration to the limit.

Finally Jeff overcame Punk and his strategies at the Night of Champions when he regained his World Heavyweight Championship title back from him. Between the Night of Champions and SummerSlam, they came face to face during Jeff’s handicapped match against The Hart Dynasty, which resulted in a 3-on-3 tag team match, Punk tagging with The Hart Dynasty and Jeff with Morrison and his brother Matt Hardy

It was a breath taking TLC (Tables, Ladders, and Chairs) match innovated by Jeff only. Both Superstars not only put their bodies at risk but their careers too as the stipulations were so prone to career threatening injuries. Both went to the physical limit their bodies permitted them and never feared to risk neither themselves’  nor other’s life at risk. The match proceedings left the whole WWE Universe spell bound and breathe less. Punk knocked Hardy off from the 20ft high ladder and grabbed the title.

Though Hardy is disappointed at loosing in a match innovated by him only, moreover, it was the fact that Punk kept warning him of his devil-may-care attitude towards life since the beginning of their rivalry and the same thing happened, Hardy lost to him. He proved to Hardy and the WWE Universe that he doesn’t need any ‘Money in the Bank’ opportunity to win a title.

But his winning moment was just very short as the moment he snatched the title, the lights went out and came back only to reveal The Undertaker in the centre of the ring. Punk was too late to react for what he just saw and was grabbed by the dead man from his throat and Undertaker chokeslammed him brutally on to the mat, sending a direct and clear message to him and the WWE Universe that he is back.

But Punk realized the fact that being on top just makes one prone to others hatred and a target of others as Undertaker went after him after returning to SmackDown and Jeff Hardy is already very much eager for a rematch. So, Punk is at no loss for being at the top.
