Very few know him by his first name, mostly known by his ring name-’Batista’.

Yes, now most of you must have got it. He is David Michael Batista. He is an American, a professional wrestler and is currently on Raw. His fans call him by umpteen names like ‘The Animal’, ‘The Bomb’, etc.

He was born on 18th January, 1969 in Arlington, Virginia.

Talking about his early life, he belonged to a poor family, of which he has never been ashamed of. His grandfather used to work as a taxi driver, barber and did other these sorts of jobs to earn living. He had a very tough going in his early stages of life. He had worked as a regular bouncer in a club but was sentenced to one year probation because of a fight injuring two badly.

First he got married to Glenda in early 1990s and had two children, both daughters, Leilani and Athena. But he got divorced and again got married on 13th, October, 1998 with Angie but this time too, he was not lucky enough and got divorced again in 2006.

Now, he has two grandsons by his first daughter Keilani; Aiden and Jacob.

Currently he is the WWE Champion but will remain out of the ring due to a torn biceps (left one) as a result of attack by The Legacy when he was on his first WWE Championship reign.

He has a well decorated career with umpteen titles on his name. He has won World Heavyweight Championship four times. He has won the World Tag Team Championship title thrice, twice with The Nature Boy and once with John Cena. He won WWE Tag Team Championship With Rey Mysterio and last but not the least, he has been the winner of the Royal Rumble (2005)

When ever he is in ring, he fights like an Animal and this testifies the fact that he is known as ‘The Animal’. There have been a number of matches which are still fresh in our memories. He has been awarded for the Feud of the Year twice in his career. First it was in 2005 against Triple H and then in 2007 against The Undertaker.

Talking about the controversies he has been involved since his debut in WWE Universe, in 2005, he gave controversial interviews to The Sun, criticizing SmackDown, saying that wrestlers there lack passion. Once he was alleged of being a customer of one of those pharmacies under investigation regarding illegal prescriptions but he denied that allegation and escaped the arrest somehow.

Well these controversies are a part of everybody’s career. He has been a very good wrestler and the long list of his titles is a testimony of the fact. He still has not stopped and is continuing his journey of success.
